Atom Computing is building quantum computers using arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms. We are seeking a Quantum Engineer to join our team of scientists and engineers working to translate fundamental atomic physics into a scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing platform.
In this role, you will design and construct the scientific hardware and control interfaces—both hardware and software—that form the essential backbone of our quantum computing platform. You will generate intellectual property related to the design and operation of neutral-atom-based quantum computers, and distill and communicate your findings internally and through external publications and presentations. You will work collaboratively with experimental physicists, hardware engineers, and software engineers to advance the state-of-the-art in quantum computing.
The role requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques used in atomic physics and quantum computing research
- Deep understanding of fundamental interactions between light and matter
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams of experimental physicists, hardware engineers, and software engineers
- Preferred: Familiarity with Python and Git software version control
We specifically welcome candidates with experience in: trapping and manipulation of cold atoms; coherent control of quantum systems (neutral atoms, trapped ions, NV-centers, nuclear magnetic resonance, superconducting qubits); or quantum characterization, verification, and validation (QCVV) techniques.
