Valar Atomics is building advanced nuclear power systems to deliver clean, scalable energy for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is constructing its first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah, demonstrating factory-made, rapidly deployable nuclear systems and fuel fabrication. As Quality Assurance Laboratory Manager, you will lead all analytical, inspection, and testing operations within the QA Laboratory of an advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing facility. You will oversee a team of Laboratory Technicians and ensure that all materials, in-process products, and finished nuclear fuel components meet rigorous regulatory, safety, and performance standards. Key responsibilities include: - Direct daily laboratory operations, supervise and develop laboratory staff, and foster a culture of safety, precision, and accountability - Maintain strict adherence to nuclear industry quality standards (NQA-1, ISO 17025) and regulatory guidelines, ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and quality records management - Oversee chemical, radiological, metallurgical, and mechanical testing programs for nuclear fuel qualification; review test methods, validate activities, approve data reports, and manage deviations - Ensure accurate, reproducible, and fully traceable test results; prepare technical reports, certificates of analysis, and lead nonconformance investigations and root-cause analysis - Collect, analyze, and report engineering metrics on process performance (yield, cost, safety); prepare detailed KPI reports and operational insights - Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Procurement, and Regulatory Affairs to support process qualification and continuous improvement - Maintain and operate analytical instruments, manage calibrations and scheduled maintenance, and oversee consumables inventory You are passionate about quality, safety, and continuous improvement. You thrive in fast-paced environments, manage prompt testing and reporting turnaround times, and collaborate effectively across functions to meet production, safety, and regulatory requirements. You provide solutions to increase productivity without compromising quality or safety.
