Reality Defender is a cybersecurity company specializing in deepfake and AI-generated media detection. The company uses a patented multi-model approach to detect fraudulent video, audio, imagery, and text across enterprise and government clients. Backed by top-tier investors including DCVC, Y Combinator, Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, and Accenture, Reality Defender's API-first platform helps organizations identify fraud and disinformation in real time.
As a Quality Assurance Engineer (L3), you will ensure that Reality Defender's detection platform meets the highest standards for reliability and accuracy. Your customers depend on the system to make high-stakes decisions—authenticating voices on bank phone lines, verifying faces in job interviews, and detecting malicious AI-generated media. You will own test planning and execution across multiple product areas including APIs, SDKs, the web application, and real-time voice and video integrations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans from requirements review through release sign-off for assigned product areas
- Build and maintain automated test suites (API, end-to-end, regression) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, severity assessment, and business impact
- Test reliability and performance of real-time detection under realistic conditions including latency, load, varied media quality, and multiple platforms
- Maintain test data and media sets used for release validation
- Partner with AI Research and Red Team on model release validation and regression testing
- Support Customer Support and Solutions Engineering in reproducing and triaging customer-reported issues
- Contribute to QA standards, documentation, and release checklists across the engineering team
Within 12 months, you will own QA for multiple product areas with minimal oversight, establish quality metrics the team tracks, improve QA tooling and practices, and be ready to mentor newer QA team members.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in software QA or quality engineering, testing web applications and APIs in fast-moving release environments
- Hands-on experience writing automated tests in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages using frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
- Experience testing REST APIs (Postman or code-based) and working within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Strong attention to detail and systematic approach to finding edge cases
- Clear written communication skills for bug reports and test plans
- Nice to have: Experience testing audio, video, or real-time communication products (WebRTC, telephony, conferencing)
- Nice to have: Experience testing ML-powered products or working with test datasets
- Nice to have: Exposure to performance or load testing tools (k6, Locust, JMeter)
