Airalo is the world's first eSIM store, helping millions of travelers access affordable mobile data in 200+ countries and regions. The company is fully remote, with 400+ employees across 60+ countries, and is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to help ensure the reliability and performance of its roaming and network services.
In this role, you will design and maintain IREG-based test campaigns for roaming partners, network changes, and service launches across Data, Voice, and SMS. You'll manage the test SIM and eSIM fleet, remote test probes, campaign configuration, scheduling, execution, reporting, and coverage history. A key responsibility is building repeatable test pipelines and integrating smoke and regression suites into CI/CD to provide clear release gates, ensuring that core network changes and Steering of Roaming adjustments never silently break existing footprint.
You will define KPIs, baselines, and thresholds that indicate service health, correlate synthetic test results with production KPIs and real customer journeys, and turn findings into alerts and runbooks for the Operations team. You'll also design and run tests to verify geo-redundancy behavior, including site failover and failback, Diameter and GTP path recovery, session survival, and data consistency after switches. Additionally, you'll verify that core platforms deliver the capacity they were dimensioned for under sustained load and signaling bursts.
Analyzing PCAP, MAP/SS7, Diameter, GTP, and DNS traces alongside monitoring data is a core part of the work—isolating failures, supporting root cause analysis, validating fixes, and strengthening regression coverage.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in telecom QA, network testing, service assurance, or roaming validation
- Strong understanding of how LTE/EPC fits together; ability to trace registration or session flows and identify failure points
- Proficiency with Wireshark as a primary diagnostic tool
- Ability to write automation in Python or similar languages and maintain regression suites in CI/CD
- Fluent English for meetings and asynchronous communication
Nice to have:
- Experience at a roaming hub, IPX provider, mobile operator, or MVNO, including partner interoperability testing
- Hands-on SIM box or remote testing probe management
- Exposure to 5G roaming and VoLTE roaming, including S8HR and SMS over IP
- Familiarity with HSS/HLR, PCRF, and OCS functions and their role in roaming failures
- Working knowledge of GSMA roaming procedures and documents (IR.21, IR.24, IR.35, IR.38, IR.92)
