Infleqtion is a global quantum technology company developing quantum computers, sensors, and networks to solve complex problems. This Lead Engineer role is based at the Kidlington, UK site and focuses on accelerating product development for quantum RF (QRF) systems.
You will own the complete engineering delivery of quantum RF products across the full lifecycle—from translating R&D into robust, integrated systems through to market-ready products. Your responsibilities include:
• Owning portfolio engineering architecture, system design approach, and execution plans
• Converting scientific and programme requirements into engineering requirements, design decisions, and verification strategies
• Leading engineering trade-offs across performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, schedule, and risk
• Managing engineering domain leads across hardware, software, mechanical, electrical, optical, systems, and verification disciplines
• Ensuring adherence to design controls, documentation standards, configuration management, and review processes
• Driving integration, test, verification, validation, and readiness for deployment or productization
• Collaborating closely with physics leads to preserve required scientific performance in system designs
• Working with project management to capture and actively manage engineering plans, dependencies, and risks
• Supporting the Portfolio Lead in technical roadmap development, proposal development, supplier engagement, and customer discussions
• Progressing the portfolio through the full product lifecycle from research prototype to engineered system
The role involves up to 10% travel. Work is performed in office and laboratory environments with technical equipment including computers and lasers. You must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds, and use standard office equipment and communication tools effectively.

**Requirements:**
Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in engineering, physics, or similar STEM field, or equivalent vocational qualification
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
• 10+ years in a technical leadership role (product owner, design authority, or technical programme manager), particularly in quantum technology, advanced hardware, computing, defence, or deep-tech sectors
• Proven experience taking emerging technologies from low TRL R&D through to robust, reliable, market-ready products
• Experience with complex, advanced technology systems combining mechanical, electrical, RF, optical, and software components
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering, science, product, and commercial stakeholders)
• Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Desired Skills:
• Experience in RF electronics and signal processing techniques
• Experience building systems for deployment in harsh dynamic environments
• Exposure to AMO physics and quantum control systems
• Experience with product lifecycle management and systems engineering frameworks (UML, IEEE 15288, INCOSE, MSBE, SysML, IEEE 29148, etc.)
