As a QA Automation Engineer, you will work across the full device lifecycle—from developing automated hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and regression tests to validating new features, analyzing fleet telemetry, monitoring releases, and investigating customer-reported issues. You'll collaborate with embedded, backend, hardware, and other QA automation engineers to improve test coverage, release quality, and reliability of devices deployed globally across 170+ countries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing tools to analyze fleet health, actively monitoring devices after releases, creating alerts, and managing device configurations in the field
- Working with large volumes of data using Querybook, Grafana, and AWS Athena
- Monitoring telemetry data from deployed devices
- Analyzing automated HIL regression test results and performing manual validation checks on release builds
- Developing proofs-of-concept to validate how manual tests and new features can be automated, then implementing and integrating them into the regression suite
- Expanding regression test coverage based on fleet health analysis and customer-reported bugs
- Identifying, reproducing, investigating, and clearly reporting issues found during automated testing or fleet monitoring
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in software QA, release engineering, or testing physical/embedded devices
- Experience designing test strategies and developing automated test cases, with focus on regression and end-to-end testing
- Strong knowledge of Python, CI/CD, Linux, networking, and databases
- Understanding of hardware/software interactions and ability to troubleshoot issues on physical devices
- Experience automating manual QA processes, including developing proofs-of-concept and turning them into reliable regression tests
Nice to have:
- Release validation and fleet health monitoring experience
- Configuration and release management experience
- Grafana or similar telemetry visualization tools
- BDD methodology (Gherkin syntax)
- TeamCity or GitHub Actions
- Embedded systems, device telemetry, and HIL testing background
- Basic understanding of electronics
