TheFork, a Tripadvisor Group company and Europe's leading restaurant booking platform, is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join their Quality Engineering team of ~10 engineers. This is not a traditional QA role—you'll be a software engineer focused on building the testing platform, tooling, and infrastructure that powers quality across all engineering squads.
You will design and scale state-of-the-art test automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript, acting as the technical architect for the entire test ecosystem. Your responsibilities include owning repositories and design patterns, empowering developers with clean abstractions and reusable components, and driving key engineering decisions around test layering, fixture design, and data isolation.
You'll partner with feature teams to improve system testability, own and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), and hunt down root causes of instability to implement permanent structural fixes. The role also involves mentoring engineers, defining quality gates and metrics, and championing a modern Quality Engineering culture. You'll work in a truly international environment collaborating with talented engineers across Western and Eastern Europe, with opportunities to experiment with AI-driven testing tools and LLMs.
Required: 2–5 years as an SDET or Quality Engineer with strong focus on tooling and framework design; solid software engineering background with TypeScript/JavaScript; proven experience designing automation frameworks at scale (Playwright preferred); mastery of test design patterns and the test pyramid; strong CI/CD experience (Jenkins); comfort with REST/GraphQL API testing; developer advocate mindset; fluent English for international collaboration.
Bonus: Prior backend (Node.js) or full-stack development experience; platform engineering background; Playwright expertise.
