Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly and having sold 25+ million objects globally. The company is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to embed quality as an engineering discipline across their web, mobile, and backend systems.
In this role, you will own and improve automation foundations and tooling to make testing faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain. Key responsibilities include building scalable automation frameworks using tools like Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress with object-oriented design patterns; embedding quality into CI/CD pipelines with effective release gates; testing APIs and backend systems across REST and GraphQL; improving test effectiveness by increasing meaningful coverage and reducing regression time; applying risk-based testing to prioritize critical user journeys; strengthening quality engineering practices through framework and tooling improvements; collaborating across Engineering, Product, and Business teams; and mentoring others while remaining hands-on.
You bring 7–12 years of relevant experience progressing from QA into hands-on automation engineering or software development in test. You write production-quality code in Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or comparable languages. You have deep expertise building or significantly improving maintainable, modular automation frameworks, not just using existing ones. You have hands-on CI/CD experience with Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps, including PR checks and release gates. You are strong in API testing across REST/GraphQL and confident with backend-heavy systems. You think in systems rather than individual test cases, take end-to-end ownership, and can demonstrate how your work has improved delivery outcomes. You combine strong technical coding with a product and business mindset.
