Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual

FlixBus is seeking a Public Affairs & Strategic Development Manager to lead market expansion by securing access to critical transportation infrastructure and managing relationships with key stakeholders in a highly regulated environment. In this role, you will be responsible for securing high-impact locations for bus stops and stations by leveraging government relationships and private-sector negotiation skills. You will build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies to support business growth. A core responsibility is leading regional strategy and aligning commercial objectives with government policies by identifying opportunities and mitigating regulatory risks. You will represent the company in discussions with transportation authorities and media, preparing materials for hearings and public consultations. You'll lead site acquisition efforts, ensuring compliance with zoning, permitting, and safety standards across jurisdictions. Additionally, you will develop partnerships with businesses, transit agencies, and property owners to enhance station access and amenities, serving as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters. The role includes managing up to two direct reports, with responsibilities evolving over time. You will travel up to 30% as needed to support business development activities. You should have a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or a related field, with 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development, including work with government entities. You need 2+ years of project management experience with strong knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems, plus 1+ years of people management experience or experience leading cross-functional teams. Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and policy analysis skills are essential, along with excellent writing, communication, and presentation abilities. Familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development is valued. Experience with RFPs and grant writing is a plus.
