Relativity Space is building rockets to deliver payloads to orbit. The Terran R vehicle represents a significant advancement in launch capacity and commercial spaceflight. This role is part of the Engine Systems & Test Team, which is responsible for developing, testing, and certifying the engines that will power the Terran rocket. As a Propulsion Test Responsible Engineer II, you will serve as the technical lead for integrated engine test campaigns. Your responsibilities span multiple areas: Test Leadership & Execution: You will develop comprehensive test plans in collaboration with product owners and execute test campaigns at the Stennis test facility. You'll troubleshoot complex technical challenges, own the exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, and dive deep into evaluating hardware behavior to support continuous engine development and certification. Day-to-Day Scope: The role is highly varied and hands-on. You may write test sequences, review and analyze test data, perform hands-on work with test articles, write code for test automation, sit console during hotfire tests, design specialized tooling, and manage overall campaign ownership. Systems & Analysis Work: Beyond testing, you'll support engine subsystem troubleshooting, partner with other teams on product investigations, conduct engine system analysis and simulation, and lead trade studies. Project Ownership: You'll identify and own projects that increase team efficiency and collective capability. Future Opportunities: As the vehicle development program progresses, you may participate in stage testing and flight campaigns, including console operations during launch, defining test objectives, and developing concepts of operations. You'll collaborate closely with component engineers, manufacturing teams, the Stennis test facility, and the Cape launch team.
