Relativity Space is building Terran R, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed to deliver payloads to orbit. As a Propulsion Test Engineer II at the Stennis Space Center test facility, you will design, build, and operate test stands and test articles—including high-energy components, rocket engines, and full booster and upper stages. The role spans three focus areas: Design & Build, Operations, and Integration.
In the Design & Build focus, you will design fluid systems (gas, liquid, cryogenic) with Piping & Instruction Diagrams (P&IDs), analysis, and component selection; design structural and mechanical systems including 3D modeling, analysis, and fabrication drawings; source components and develop detailed fabrication work instructions; bring new test stands to life by managing fabrication, activation, and initial operations; design and implement upgrades to operational test stands to enable new test capabilities; and maintain test stands through preventive maintenance and rapid response to anomalies and equipment failures.
In the Operations focus, you will conduct test operations on high-energy components, engines, and stages; control test stands and test articles through GUIs and automation while monitoring real-time data; troubleshoot anomalies and coordinate with design teams to resolve issues; and document test results and contribute to post-test analysis.
In the Integration focus, you will coordinate between design, operations, and manufacturing teams; manage test schedules and resource allocation; and ensure test articles and facilities are ready for campaigns.
You'll work hands-on with large-scale, complex systems, pushing hardware to the limits and directly contributing to flight readiness. The work is fast-paced, highly operational, and collaborative. No aerospace experience is required—the company welcomes those with hands-on backgrounds in aviation, automotive, manufacturing, offshore operations, industrial systems, construction, or adjacent industries. As the Stennis Test site scales, you'll play a critical role in enabling routine, reliable flights of Terran R.
