The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation, developing Nyx—a modular, reusable orbital vehicle designed for cargo and eventual human missions—along with advanced propulsion systems. As a Propulsion Test Engineer, you will own the testing and analysis of propulsion systems across engine and component levels. Your responsibilities include: - Prepare and execute tests to evaluate hardware performance at engine and component levels - Develop test plans, objectives, and schedules aligned with requirements and timelines; lead daily test operations and generate comprehensive test reports - Conduct autonomous risk assessment analyses and define mitigation actions to ensure personnel and hardware safety during test campaigns - Interpret P&IDs and generate test sequences, balancing risk, test needs, and bench/article constraints - Collaborate with development engineers, test bench teams, AIT teams, and external partners to support test operations on internal and external facilities - Support rapid test data processing with component development engineers to guide ongoing and future test campaigns - Define, develop, and update test procedures and guidelines to improve operations - Prepare technical documentation including detailed procedures, test reports, design reviews, and performance analyses The role is continuously evolving and offers exposure to cutting-edge aerospace propulsion technology in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred) - 3–5 years of experience in propulsion testing or related fields - Proficiency in propulsion chemistry, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics - Proven hands-on experience with engine testing or equivalent - Background in cryogenic propulsion (highly valued) - Experience with simulation tools commonly used in propulsion testing (e.g., CEA) - Python programming proficiency (plus) - Exposure to CAD software (Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing - Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities - Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
