The Exploration Company is seeking a Propulsion Test Engineer to develop and execute tests for innovative aerospace propulsion systems. You will be responsible for designing and conducting engine and component-level testing, developing comprehensive test plans with clear objectives and schedules, and leading daily test operations. A key aspect of the role involves autonomously performing risk assessment analyses and defining mitigation strategies to ensure safety during all test campaigns.
You will interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), generate test sequences that balance risk and operational constraints, and work collaboratively with development engineers, test bench teams, AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) personnel, and external partners across internal and external test facilities. The role requires rapid processing of test data to inform ongoing and future test campaigns, as well as defining and updating test procedures and guidelines to continuously improve operations.
Technical documentation is a significant responsibility, including detailed procedures, test reports, design reviews, and performance analyses. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering (master's preferred), with 2–5 years of hands-on propulsion testing experience. Strong proficiency in propulsion chemistry, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics is essential. Experience with cryogenic propulsion systems is highly valued. Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., CEA), Python programming, CAD software (Siemens NX, CATIA), and GD&T is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and leadership skills are required to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
