BETA Technologies is building electric aircraft and seeking a Propulsion Systems Engineer to drive the development of next-generation propulsion systems. This role sits at the intersection of aerospace certification, systems engineering, and electric propulsion innovation. You will own propulsion system and component requirements development, leading validation activities across complex electronics and software integration. Key responsibilities include conducting design reviews, managing system integration activities (interface definition, hardware/software testing, system-to-system integration), planning and coordinating verification activities with mechanical, electrical, software, and certification engineers, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and aircraft-level requirements through safety assessment. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of aerospace systems or aircraft development experience, with demonstrated expertise in SAE ARP4754A/ARP4761 processes and Title 14 CFR certification standards (parts 23, 25, 27, 29, or 33). You should be comfortable with requirements-based testing for complex electronic systems and structured development processes. Advanced qualifications include a Master's in systems engineering, 10+ years aerospace experience, traditional engine certification background, motor control/inverter design expertise, MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, embedded control systems knowledge, and Application Lifecycle Management tools like Polarion. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly with both internal engineers and regulatory authorities. This is a full-time role with equity participation (RSUs and PSUs), comprehensive benefits including onsite healthcare, medical/dental/vision coverage, disability insurance, parental leave, daily lunch, and flight lessons.
