Relativity Space is building rockets to serve commercial and scientific launch needs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, and the company is pioneering advanced manufacturing techniques including 3D printing for rocket production.
As an Engine Assembly Responsible Engineer on the Propulsion Integrated Design team, you will own the overall layout and packaging of Aeon-R engines across all configurations (development, qualification, acceptance, first stage vs. upper stage). You'll design and analyze final integration hardware including secondary structures, fluid manifolds, tubing, and custom fittings. Working closely with component and sub-system owners across the Propulsion department, you'll drive toward optimal engine designs.
Key responsibilities include leading clean-sheet conceptual design and layouts for new or upgraded engine configurations, owning and releasing top-level CAD models of the engine assembly, and tracking mass/mass projections. You'll also own the Interface Control Diagram for Aeon-R engines, requiring close collaboration with vehicle and test stand partners.
The Propulsion team fosters a culture of bottoms-up decision-making and ownership. Engineers are responsible for the entire lifecycle of their parts, from initial design through production to qualification and flight. As the flight configuration enters qualification, the team is exploring modifications for future engines, including thrust upgrades, new cycles, and design for mass production.
