Impulse is seeking a Propulsion Development Engineer to own all aspects of in-house liquid propulsion system design, analysis, implementation, and operation. You will work within a fast-paced, agile team developing high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all aspects of propulsion component and subsystem development from concept through flight qualification
- Conduct detailed analysis and testing to validate that hardware performance and function meets design intent
- Prepare, plan, and execute comprehensive tests ranging from engine hotfire tests to valve functional testing
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performance, and highly integrated propulsion systems
- Resolve complex technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions
- Lead technical projects and take ownership of spaceflight-critical hardware
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience in aerospace propulsion
- Strong proficiency in fundamental principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials science
- Ability to perform system trades including thermal-fluids analyses and materials selection
- Hands-on experience with fluid, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems integration
- Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and work collaboratively within small teams
