As a Propulsion Component Engineer at Impulse, you will own the complete lifecycle of spacecraft component design—from initial concept through product realization. Working within a fast-paced, agile team building high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs, you'll drive innovation across multiple engineering disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning all aspects of component design from concept to production, with particular focus on propulsion systems
- Generating detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly
- Performing fluid dynamics, thermal, and structural analysis to validate designs
- Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to source materials, fabricate components, and complete assemblies
- Providing technical support during test operations and troubleshooting
- Developing innovative, resourceful solutions to technical challenges
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related science discipline, plus 3+ years of hands-on experience in valve or component design. Strong background in fluid and mechanical systems is essential. You should be proficient in CAD software and capable of learning new tools quickly. Experience performing structural and thermal analysis is required. Demonstrated competency across the full hardware development cycle—requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and testing—is critical for success in this role.
