The Exploration Company is seeking a Propulsion AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) Engineer to lead critical assembly and verification activities on Huracan, their cryogenic rocket engine. This is a hands-on technical role positioned at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test operations, responsible for transforming propulsion designs into flight-ready hardware.
Key responsibilities include leading assembly and acceptance testing of Huracan subcomponents, particularly thrust chamber assemblies; participating in full engine builds by integrating thrust chambers with engine structures, fluid systems, valves, instrumentation, pumps, and piping; developing detailed assembly procedures and manufacturing documentation; defining tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment; ensuring compliance with cleanliness and contamination control standards; performing leak checks, pressure testing, functional verification, and instrumentation checks under approved procedures; supporting hot-firing test campaign preparation including hardware readiness reviews and procedure validation; recording build data and inspection results in ERP systems; investigating assembly issues and implementing corrective actions collaboratively; and contributing to continuous process improvement.
Ideal candidates hold a master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields, with rocketry experience or relevant individual projects. Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience assembling or integrating mechanical systems in laboratory, workshop, production, or test environments—ideally involving propulsion, pressure systems, or fluidic assemblies. Familiarity with CAD, PLM, ERP, and technical documentation systems is valuable. Understanding of torque-controlled assembly, cleanliness practices, FOD prevention, leak and pressure testing, dimensional inspection, configuration management, non-conformance management, and root-cause analysis is highly desired. Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, additive manufacturing, surface treatments) and their impact on tolerances and performance is valued. The role demands rigor, attention to detail, ability to work in fast-paced environments, ownership mentality, fluent English communication, and passion for space exploration.
