Applied Intuition is a $15B-valued AI company powering physical intelligence for autonomous systems across automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture. The Proposal Writer role is a hands-on position reporting to the Head of Growth, responsible for translating capture strategy, technical inputs, and customer requirements into compliant, compelling written products for defense contracts.
You will draft and edit proposals from first draft through final submission, including executive summaries, technical volumes, management volumes, past performance narratives, staffing plans, and resumes. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Delivery, and Solutions teams to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, customer-focused language that addresses government evaluation criteria and pain points.
Key responsibilities include ensuring proposal compliance with solicitation instructions, page limits, formatting requirements, and submission rules; drafting Statements of Work with clear deliverables, milestones, and acceptance criteria; and developing Rough Order of Magnitudes, pricing proposals, and Basis of Estimates narratives in collaboration with contracts and engineering teams.
Required qualifications: BA/BS in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field; 3–8 years of proposal writing, technical writing, grant writing, or related experience; demonstrated ability to write SOWs, technical specifications, and compelling proposals under tight deadlines while managing multiple efforts; comfort working directly with BD teams; and technical fluency to translate complex concepts from delivery, engineering, and product teams.
Nice-to-have qualifications include government contracting fluency (RFP structures, FAR/DFARS, DoD procurement), experience writing proposals for defense/aerospace/regulated industries, hybrid background spanning defense primes and startups, and U.S. citizenship with eligibility for Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
Applied Intuition is headquartered in Sunnyvale with offices globally including Washington D.C., San Diego, Ft. Walton Beach, Ann Arbor, London, Stuttgart, Munich, Stockholm, Bangalore, Seoul, and Tokyo. The company expects in-office work 5 days/week with flexibility for occasional remote work and schedule adjustments.
