Lumen Energy is a solar broker for large commercial real estate owners, helping them monetize rooftops and parking lots through solar and battery installations. The company works with institutional clients like Nuveen, Hines, and J.P. Morgan Asset Management, backed by investors including Lowercarbon Capital. As Project Success Lead, you will serve as the quarterback for Lumen's multi-hundred MW portfolio of development projects, managing the complex journey from lease signature to commercial operation date (COD). Your role bridges internal teams, building owner clients, solar developers, and construction partners. Key responsibilities include: - Owner Engagement: Build a structured system for bringing development items to building owners. Pressure-test requests with developers first, then present clear, concise asks to owners. Maintain regular detailed updates that provide full visibility while earning lasting trust. - Issue Resolution: Identify risks early—unfavorable incentive results, permitting delays, interconnection cost surprises—and drive them to resolution. When developer and owner interests diverge, advise owners on trade-offs and optimal paths forward. - Deal Execution: Drive all post-signing workstreams including site plan review and approval, lender items (SNDA negotiation, lease amendments, memoranda of lease), incentive program applications, and construction logistics. Keep forecasted and actual milestones current in Lumen's platform and HubSpot. - Quarterly Reviews: Lead quarterly sessions with owner stakeholders and executive sponsors, showcasing portfolio progress and preparing them for upcoming milestones, decisions, and expectations. - Process Building: Design processes, dashboards, and communication standards to scale this function with Lumen's growing portfolio. - Relationship Building: Develop trusted relationships with developer partners and property managers. Share milestones with owners and turn strong outcomes into case studies and references. You will work directly with the VP of Business Development, internal Operations teams, and account leads, gaining early exposure to executive sponsors at major real estate owners. As Lumen's portfolio scales, this role grows—strong performers can lead the project success team or move into account leadership. Requirements: - 2–6 years in management consulting, investment banking, commercial real estate, renewable energy development, or similar client-facing role - Demonstrated ability to run multiple workstreams simultaneously with rigor to keep dozens of open items moving across many parties - Strong communication skills: ability to translate complex technical, legal, or financial detail into clear, actionable insights for senior, non-technical audiences - Comfort with ambiguity and enthusiasm for building a function, not just running one - Ownership mentality: ready to own outcomes directly rather than advise on them Nice to have: - Prior work with sophisticated institutional commercial real estate clients - Familiarity with solar or renewable energy development (interconnection, permitting, incentive programs, community solar) - Exposure to real estate transaction documents (leases, SNDAs, lender consents) - Experience with HubSpot or comparable CRM No solar background required; technical knowledge is learnable. The role values the rigor, judgment, and client presence built in consulting, banking, or similar roles.
