As Project Manager, Special Projects, you will own programs that fall outside the existing production model, including medium-voltage manufacturing expansion, new capability stand-up, first-of-a-kind customer configurations, and strategic initiatives that shape what the Power Distribution sector can build in the next two years.
Your primary near-term focus is medium-voltage (MV) switchgear and MV Power Distribution Cabinet (PDC) manufacturing capability expansion. This work requires coordinated execution across facility layout, test capability, tooling, workforce qualification, supply chain development, and certification—all running in parallel with live production that cannot be disrupted. Your work directly impacts Crusoe's ability to energize compute from sustainable, renewable, and stranded energy sources at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own capability expansion programs: scope definition, budget, schedule, and cross-functional execution
- Lead production area layout, material flow, test bay development, lifting/handling requirements, and utility infrastructure
- Coordinate MV test capability development—equipment specification, procurement, commissioning, and technician qualification
- Manage first-of-a-kind customer programs where no established process exists, documenting the processes you create
- Partner with Supply Chain to develop the MV supplier base through qualification and dual-sourcing of critical components
- Coordinate with Operations and HR on skills gap analysis, training plans, and workforce qualification tracking
- Manage capital project scope with Finance and Facilities; own cost model accuracy and monthly cost-to-complete reporting
- Own regulatory workstreams: listing scope, inspection agency coordination, AHJ engagement, and code applicability analysis
- Build and drive mitigation for expansion program risk registers
- Transition completed capability into standing production with documented process and acceptance criteria
- Provide executive dashboard inputs on schedule, milestone status, cost/margin position, and open risk
This role suits a project manager comfortable being handed a problem with no template, no internal precedent, and a hard deadline. You will build structure where none exists and thrive in ambiguity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5+ years managing projects in electrical equipment, construction, engineering, or manufacturing
- Bachelor of Science in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management (closely related fields considered)
- Experience spanning facility, capability, or capacity expansion within manufacturing
- Working knowledge of MV power distribution equipment and its manufacturing/test requirements
- Experience managing capital budgets through justification, execution, and close-out
- Proven ability to define scope, structure, and process independently on programs with no internal precedent
- Strong cross-functional influence across operations, engineering, facilities, finance, and HR
- Proficiency with schedule management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, Monday.com, Primavera P6)
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office; experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP, Visual, or Acumatica preferred)
- Safety and compliance: designated safety-sensitive position; drug and alcohol program participation required
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct experience standing up MV switchgear or MV PDC manufacturing capability
- Familiarity with ANSI C37.20.2, C37.20.7, and MV factory test requirements
- Experience with industrialized building or modular manufacturing regulatory programs
- Background in both construction project delivery and manufacturing operations
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
