Distro is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead full-lifecycle project execution in civil construction and site development. You will own projects from handoff through closeout, managing field operations, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
**Project Ownership & Execution**: Own the complete project lifecycle, align field operations with schedules and budgets, maintain scope control, and drive decision-making to keep projects moving forward.
**Financial Management**: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking. Monitor job cost reports and margin performance. Identify risks early, manage change orders and billing, and ensure accurate monthly financial reporting.
**Planning & Coordination**: Develop and maintain project schedules with field leadership. Lead 2-week and 6-week lookahead planning with superintendents. Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors. Remove constraints impacting schedule and production.
**Client & Stakeholder Management**: Serve as primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and key stakeholders. Build strong relationships through consistent communication. Lead project meetings and represent the company professionally.
**Contract & Documentation Management**: Manage contracts, subcontracts, and project documentation. Review plans and specifications. Oversee RFIs, submittals, and change management. Ensure proper documentation for claims and scope changes.
**Field Collaboration**: Work closely with superintendents to align field execution with project strategy. Support field teams in problem-solving and logistics. Stay engaged on-site, not just behind a desk.
**Risk Management**: Identify and proactively address project risks related to cost, schedule, safety, and quality. Ensure compliance with contract and regulatory requirements.
**Project Closeout**: Oversee final billing, retention, and financial reconciliation. Ensure completion of punch lists, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
Success means delivering projects on schedule and within budget with strong margins, maintaining alignment between field operations and financial performance, building client trust, and solving problems early.
Work environment combines office and active construction site work with regular site visits required. Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of project management experience in civil construction, site development, or concrete
- Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and financial forecasting
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience with construction software (HCSS, Procore, or similar)
- Experience with accounting software (Sage or comparable)
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with large-scale site development or heavy civil projects
- Background working closely with field operations and crews
- Strong understanding of subcontractor management and procurement
- Proven track record of delivering profitable projects
