You will lead the AI Data Ops function—the team responsible for sourcing, processing, and annotating satellite and remote sensing imagery that powers the company's AI/ML models. This is a new leadership role created to bring an automation-first, numbers-backed, process-driven operating model to the function.
Key responsibilities:
**Automation & AI-native workflows:** Identify repetitive manual workflows across annotation, QA, imagery processing, and reporting. Drive their automation via internal tooling, scripting, RPA, or AI-assisted workflows. Build and own the automation roadmap and drive it across the team.
**Program & project management:** Run structured program governance (milestones, RAID logs, status cadence) across cross-functional initiatives. Bring discipline—timelines, ownership, dependencies—to all team initiatives.
**Cost reduction:** Own a cost-efficiency roadmap for Ops covering vendor spend, tooling costs, rework/error costs, and capacity utilization. Build business cases and track savings with real numbers for visible impact.
**Vendor performance frameworks:** Establish SLAs, quality metrics, and performance reviews for external vendors and contractors. Manage escalations and drive continuous improvement.
**Metrics & reporting:** Build dashboards and reporting cadences that track operational health, cost trends, and automation ROI. Present findings to leadership.
You will zoom in to solve real problems on the ground—stuck vendor SLAs, high-priority escalations, broken handoffs—and zoom out to design processes, playbooks, and automation that prevent recurrence. You'll be judged on the systems and habits you install, not just projects you close. This is a high-visibility, build-from-scratch role at the intersection of strategy, operations, vendor management, and data science delivery.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of program or operations management experience in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of designing and implementing process improvements, automation initiatives, or operational frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfort with data-driven decision-making
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, or external partners
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Hands-on experience working in a startup environment (must-have)
- Bonus: prior exposure to GIS, geospatial, imagery, or annotation-heavy operations; experience standing up automation/RPA/AI tooling programs
