Valar Atomics is building scalable, clean, high-temperature nuclear power systems for industrial, hydrogen, and next-generation manufacturing applications. The company operates a pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah and is establishing manufacturing and fuel fabrication capabilities. As a Production Quality Technician, you will be embedded directly in the production floor environment at the Torrance manufacturing facility, supporting quality execution for HTGR reactor components and fuel-related manufacturing. This is a hands-on operational role, not a passive inspection position. You will work closely with Production Quality Supervisors and Engineers to perform in-process and final inspections of production components, assemblies, and materials against drawings, specifications, travelers, and work instructions. You will support hold-point coordination and witness activities during production builds, ensuring verification steps are completed before work proceeds. You will maintain and verify build records, material traceability documentation, and inspection/test records to ensure accuracy, completeness, legibility, and audit readiness. Key responsibilities include: performing dimensional and visual inspections; supporting hold-point coordination; maintaining build records and material traceability documentation; assisting with inspection methods, gauges, and measurement equipment setup; identifying and escalating discrepancies, missing documentation, workmanship concerns, or process deviations; supporting the Operator Verification Certification (OVC) program; collaborating with operators, manufacturing engineers, and quality supervisors; and supporting nonconformance documentation and CAPA activities. You will thrive in this role if you are highly detail-oriented, comfortable learning technical requirements and engineering drawings in a fast-moving environment, communicate clearly across teams, and take ownership in an operational setting that values adaptability and urgency. **Requirements:** - High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical certification or trade training a plus - Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and controlled documentation - Familiarity with dimensional inspection equipment and standard measurement techniques, or willingness to learn - Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in fast-paced operational environments - Comfortable working in active manufacturing environments with exposure to industrial noise, fabrication-related fumes, and changing operational conditions while following safety protocols - Basic computer proficiency and ability to work within digital documentation and record management systems **Preferred Experience:** - Prior experience supporting manufacturing, fabrication, or quality inspection in a production environment - Experience with nonconformance systems, build records, or material traceability systems - Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments - Familiarity with Operator Verification Certification (OVC) or similar delegated-verification programs
