Phylo is an applied research lab building agentic AI systems to accelerate biomedical discovery. Backed by a $13.5M seed round led by a16z, Menlo Ventures, and Anthropic, the company is commercializing the Biomni platform—an AI agent designed for biomedical scientists. The team combines world-class researchers and engineers across AI and biology, advised by Nobel Prize laureates and pioneering biologists. You will be a hands-on individual contributor product marketer, shaping go-to-market strategy alongside the founding team. This role owns the full lifecycle of product marketing—from positioning through launch and measurement—working closely with product, engineering, scientific, and commercial colleagues. Key responsibilities: - Develop positioning grounded in customer research. Understand the problems biomedical scientists face, how they work today, and why they choose Biomni Lab. Translate insights into clear messages for scientific users and pharma decision-makers. Test positioning in conversations and refine as the product evolves. - Build customer stories from evidence. Work directly with customers and Forward-Deployed Strategists to identify workflows, document starting points and results, and determine what can be credibly claimed. Write case studies, use cases, and walkthroughs; coordinate scientific review and customer approvals; and distribute to target audiences. - Own product launches. Define audience, message, and launch plan with the product team. Write copy, develop demos and supporting materials, coordinate contributors, and measure adoption and impact. - Run a focused marketing plan. Prioritize stories and launches, manage reviews and deadlines, own distribution, and measure customer conversations, adoption, and contribution to qualified opportunities. - Inform broader brand and marketing strategy. Bring customer insights, positioning learnings, and launch results to the founding team to shape company narrative, priority audiences, and marketing focus. The role is based in South San Francisco (near Caltrain) and requires 5 days per week in-office presence. Requirements: - Hands-on experience taking AI products to market is required. You must have personally owned positioning, launches, demos, and customer materials for a product whose core value depends on AI. You can explain capabilities and limitations, translate them into credible customer value, and demonstrate work you created and shipped. - Ability to follow research workflows, ask useful questions, and communicate credibly with scientists and R&D leaders. Experience in pharma, biotech, or life sciences is strongly preferred (within those organizations or marketing software for scientific R&D). If unfamiliar, the ability to learn and ramp up very quickly is extremely valuable. - AI-native working style: you use AI tools effectively in daily work but maintain strong product and creative taste. - Excellent writing and editing skills. You can explain complex capabilities clearly and simply, and concretely demonstrate relevance to scientists. - Strong customer and user interviewing skills with good evidence judgment. You know what results support, what remains uncertain, and what questions to ask next. - Strong execution in small teams. You can make recommendations, resolve conflicting feedback, and carry projects through without large supporting infrastructure.
