Vercel is seeking a Product Manager to own Software Factory, a new product area that deploys AI agents across the full development lifecycle—from issue triage and planning through code implementation and verification—while keeping humans in control of judgment calls. The role focuses on automating continuous software maintenance and improvement, enabling agents to fix bugs, implement features, improve performance, mitigate security issues, enhance code quality, and increase test coverage. You will define the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Software Factory. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the workflow model: designing how work flows through classification, analysis, implementation, and review stages, and determining where human handoff is required. - Establishing trust and quality standards: designing evals, verification mechanisms, retry behavior, and defining what the factory can execute autonomously versus what requires human approval. - Defining integrations with existing engineering tools (GitHub, Linear) and agent harnesses (Codex, Claude Code), plus designing dedicated surfaces for factory agent interaction. - Shaping the memory and context model that allows factories to accumulate repository knowledge over time. - Working directly with design partners and Enterprise customers adopting factories on their own codebases. You will report to the Product Lead and be based in San Francisco (hybrid with in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday if within commuting distance; fully remote if beyond that distance). REQUIREMENTS: - Proven experience with developer tooling products, ideally in CI/CD, code review, developer productivity, or AI coding tools. - Deep hands-on experience with coding agents and a substantiated perspective on where they succeed and fail today. - Technical depth to reason about agent orchestration, evals, context management, and sandboxed execution. - Experience owning a platform area that other product teams build on, with ability to set technical direction others adopt. - Experience with products whose output is probabilistic, including defining acceptance bars and measuring quality over time. - Experience working directly with design partners or Enterprise customers on adopting new engineering workflows. BONUS: - Experience with multi-agent systems or agent orchestrators. - Experience with evals or systematic measurement of AI output quality. - Experience with products adopted bottom-up by individual developers before spreading to teams. - Experience running or operating a large open-source project.
