Cloudflare is seeking a Product Manager to lead Safe Change for its control plane—a critical platform capability that enables customers to preview, stage, roll out, monitor, and recover from configuration changes safely and reliably at scale. In this role, you will define how enterprise customers manage configuration changes across Cloudflare's global network with robust deployment safety patterns: previews, gradual rollouts, quick rollbacks, versioning, traffic segmentation, data residency, auditability, and state verification. You will also shape platform foundations that enable internal teams to deploy changes with higher confidence, stronger guardrails, and lower operational risk. You will own a high-leverage product domain spanning distributed systems, reliability, developer experience, and enterprise governance. Working closely with engineering and product leaders across the platform, you will help turn proven deployment safety patterns into reusable platform primitives adopted across Cloudflare. Key responsibilities include: - Represent and champion both internal and external customers; build intimate customer relationships and bring their voice into product creation. - Develop a scalable product vision for Safe Change that works not just for current customers but for 10–100x growth. - Evangelize the vision to align all stakeholders and provide clear context on direction. - Make data-driven roadmap decisions; collect, curate, and disseminate data to build trust with stakeholders. - Own success metrics from inception through lifecycle; make them visible and actionable. - Author use cases and prioritize requirements based on real-world applications and customer feedback. - Collaborate across teams to create alignment between engineering and stakeholders. First-year success includes shipping customer capabilities for previewing and staging rollouts with measurable adoption and safety metrics, establishing strong cross-functional partnerships, defining a clear trajectory from near-term safety tooling to core control plane features, and demonstrating measurable reduction in operational risk and execution ambiguity. REQUIREMENTS: - 4+ years of product management experience - Domain expertise in safe change, deployment decisions, or closely related technology (architect or product owner background) - Distributed systems experience to drive scaling strategy as volume and internal customer base grow - Experience presenting new products and features to customers (as developer, analyst, or PM) - Strong customer and stakeholder empathy; ability to channel multiple viewpoints into strategic roadmaps - Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational, and analytical skills - Demonstrated ability to lead, drive consensus, and deliver in matrixed organizations - Experience working with large, complex data sets (SQL, Postgres, Prometheus, etc.); proven ability to prove points with data - Experience with telemetry pipelines (Metrics/Traces) and modern observability platforms - Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences BONUS: - BS/MS in technology or business-related field - Experience with deployment platforms, release engineering, progressive delivery, feature flags, GitOps, IaC, or incident management - Background in networking, security, CDN, edge computing, observability, or large-scale SaaS - Hands-on experience with APIs, CLIs, telemetry tools, or scripting (Python, Go, JavaScript) - Experience building platform capabilities adopted by multiple product teams - Experience with enterprise customers subject to strict change-management, compliance, or data residency mandates
