SpotOn is a restaurant technology platform providing point-of-sale systems and AI-powered profit tools to independent restaurants. The company is ranked #1 Restaurant POS by G2 and is a Great Place to Work.
As Product Manager for Payments, you will own the complete strategy and execution of SpotOn's payments experience, including card-present and card-not-present acceptance, transaction processing, routing, settlement, and merchant funding. You will define how payments are presented, authorized, captured, settled, and funded across the hospitality ecosystem while ensuring reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the end-to-end payments product roadmap across card-present and card-not-present environments, with focus on hospitality use cases (table service, counter service, bars, quick-service, multi-location groups).
- Defining how payment media types (chip, contactless, digital wallets, ecommerce tokens, loyalty) are presented and accepted, with metrics to measure acceptance health.
- Translating complex payment flows into simple merchant experiences (refunds, tips, adjustments, partial authorizations, offline authorization).
- Monitoring and improving payment performance metrics—authorization rates, chargebacks, declines, disputes, latency, reconciliation accuracy—through data-driven experimentation.
- Partnering with risk, compliance, and security teams to ensure adherence to network rules and PCI DSS compliance.
- Partnering with GTM to package and position payment capabilities that differentiate SpotOn.
- Leading discovery with external processors, acquirers, gateways, and partners to evaluate new capabilities and cost-optimization opportunities.
- Partnering with money movement and remittance teams to ensure accurate, timely merchant settlement with transparent fee and chargeback handling.
- Acting as primary product point of contact for payments, aligning stakeholders around vision, roadmap, and success metrics.
- Facilitating cross-functional decision-making and communicating trade-offs, risks, and progress to executives.
- Mentoring adjacent product teams on payment best practices and platform standards.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on payments, fintech, or financial services.
- Demonstrated product leadership with ability to set vision, influence stakeholders, make confident trade-offs, and rally cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of card-present and card-not-present payments, including authorization, capture, clearing, settlement, tokenization, risk, and chargeback flows.
- Working familiarity with merchant processing economics—interchange, scheme fees, and settlement/remittance mechanics.
- Experience working with payment processors, acquirers, gateways, or card networks, ideally in platform or multi-tenant merchant environments.
- Strong analytical skills with comfort working with large payment datasets, building dashboards, defining KPIs, and using data to drive prioritization and experimentation.
- Proven success shipping complex, technical products requiring deep engineering and operations collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex payment concepts to diverse audiences.
