OpenRouter is the leading AI routing and infrastructure layer that developers and enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize their AI use across models and providers. You'll be the first Product Manager for OpenRouter Connect, a new platform-as-a-platform offering that lets partners integrate multi-model inference into their own products.
Connect enables any company whose customers need inference to integrate and distribute it with the controls and observability that partners and their customers require. You'll own this surface end to end, working with engineering, design, partnerships, and go-to-market teams to build a product that serves as a managed inference layer for other platforms.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the Connect roadmap end to end, including partner integration and onboarding, provisioning APIs, controls and guardrails per customer and end user, and usage visibility and billing.
- Set strategy by determining target partner segments, defining competitive positioning, and establishing goals for partner and end user activation, engagement, and retention.
- Work directly with design partners on prospect calls and integrations, unblocking their engineers and translating partner and end customer needs into roadmap priorities.
- Collaborate with engineering and design to ship iteratively with high quality and developer experience, ensuring Connect is a set of reusable abstractions rather than one-off integrations.
- Identify and escalate platform gaps from Connect back into the core product so all OpenRouter customers benefit.
- Shape the commercial model with go-to-market and Finance teams to create a win-win-win for partners, their end customers, and OpenRouter.
You'll spend significant time with partners learning their needs, writing specs, shipping, and iterating on a fast team with fluid boundaries. This is a zero-to-one role requiring comfort with ambiguity, hard tradeoffs, and tight feedback loops.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of product management or founder experience building platform, API, or infrastructure products that other companies' engineers build on.
- Shipped partner-delivered, multi-tenant products where another company integrated, white-labeled, or resold what you built (B2B2B or B2B2Dev); experience working through tenant, identity, and billing questions.
- Zero-to-one track record: taken a product from design partners to general availability and comfortable with ambiguity, hard tradeoffs, and tight feedback loops.
- High agency and bias toward action; ability to talk to partners, write specs, ship, and iterate on a fast team with fluid boundaries.
- Strong technical judgment: can read API specs, call SDKs, review observability and metrics, and form opinions on customer-facing API surfaces, auth models, partner integrations, usage metering, and tenant isolation.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience at a developer platform, LLM ops, or AI gateway company, or building embedded/OEM offerings for infrastructure products.
- Familiarity with enterprise controls partners' customers need (access, budget, DLP management).
- Experience-informed opinions on tenant isolation, delegated administration, end-user identity, and per-tenant policy.
- Background in usage-based billing and reporting; experience with metering, invoicing, or revenue share.
- Existing user of OpenRouter or hands-on familiarity with the model and provider ecosystem.
