Salary: USD 177,000 - 203,000 / annual
Muon Space is seeking a Product Manager II to own the software platform that powers their LEO satellite constellation spacecraft. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you will drive the end-to-end product roadmap and capabilities for flight software and onboard compute systems, ensuring spacecraft meet customer mission requirements.
Key responsibilities include owning product roadmaps for flight software and onboard compute; defining and prioritizing features that improve quality, schedule adherence, and customer value; authoring clear PRDs and driving cross-functional alignment; partnering with the Director of PM on strategic build/buy decisions; conducting customer interviews to validate product-market fit; and translating customer mission needs into detailed product requirements.
You will work closely with engineering teams across flight software, hardware, and mission systems; coordinate with peer product managers on intersecting capabilities; collaborate with the Director of PM–Federal on defense-aligned needs; and partner with the VP of Product on strategic prioritization.
Required: 3–5 years of product management experience in technically complex software environments; background in flight software, embedded systems, robotics, or deep-tech domains; experience coordinating across multiple engineering teams; proven success in uncertain environments with incomplete requirements; track record delivering multi-month programs; independent execution across concurrent workstreams; strong technical fluency with engineering peers; ability to translate customer needs into detailed requirements; Bachelor's in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Nice-to-have: Active U.S. Government security clearance; familiarity with flight software, embedded systems, or real-time operating systems; experience with onboard/edge compute trade-offs; background building software for space environments; startup or high-growth tech experience.
The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose, CA. Muon Space, founded in 2021, is an end-to-end space systems provider designing, building, and operating LEO satellite constellations for Earth intelligence applications spanning climate monitoring and national security.
