OpenAI is building AI products for serious professional work, with a committed team focused on unlocking the potential of AI in financial services. The Financial Services team works closely with customers to understand where AI can improve the economics and quality of financial work—faster diligence, broader research coverage, sharper client materials, more accurate models, and better investment analysis. Work spans investment banking, equity research, private equity, asset management, wealth management, insurance, and other finance domains. As Product Manager for Financial Services, you will report to the GM of Financial Services and own product strategy, roadmap, and execution for key experiences, taking them from customer discovery and early prototypes through launch, adoption, and iteration. This is a hands-on role requiring significant time with bankers, investors, analysts, and other finance professionals; building and testing early product experiences; and working closely with Engineering, Design, Research, and customer-facing teams to ship. Key responsibilities include: - Own product strategy and priorities by working with the GM to identify valuable customer problems and translate them into a clear roadmap. Make decisions about what to build, what to defer, and where partners or shared OpenAI capabilities can best meet the need. - Go deep on financial workflows by sitting with customers, observing how they work, and understanding the documents they create, data they trust, tools they use, and standards they apply. Use insights to design experiences customers return to in daily work. - Build and ship by creating working prototypes, demos, example outputs, and product requirements using Codex and other OpenAI tools. Partner with Engineering and Design to turn early concepts into reliable products, resolve dependencies, and drive delivery through launch and iteration. - Raise the bar for quality and trust by working with Research and Engineering to turn real finance tasks and product failures into evaluations, datasets, and model feedback. Define what good looks like across accuracy, source traceability, completeness, and ease of review. - Make products work inside financial institutions by translating integration, data-access, privacy, security, and review requirements into product decisions. Work across Legal, Security, Partnerships, and core product teams to address deployment barriers. - Measure results and drive adoption by defining success through task completion, output acceptance, repeat usage, time saved, and business impact. Partner with GTM and customer-facing teams on pilots, onboarding, and launches. QUALIFICATIONS: - Track record of taking complex products from discovery through launch and sustained adoption as a product manager, founder, or builder with substantial product ownership. - Understanding of financial work sufficient to earn credibility with demanding practitioners. Background in building products for financial institutions or direct work in investment banking, investing, equity research, corporate development, or related fields preferred. - Strong product taste combined with attention to detail. Ability to make complex workflows feel simple and judge both the experience and quality of outputs. - Comfort working with engineers and researchers on model behavior, data quality, integrations, and evaluations. Ability to distinguish model limitations from data, workflow, or product-design problems. - Deep use of AI in own work and ability to build prototypes to test ideas. Willingness to teach, onboard, debug, and inspect outputs alongside customers. - Skill in choosing useful goals and metrics, testing assumptions, and changing priorities when evidence changes. - Sound judgment about privacy, trust, and accuracy in consequential professional work. - Ability to take ownership in ambiguous situations, drive decisions across teams you do not manage, and communicate clearly. Capacity to set direction and stay close to details required to ship.
