Mixpanel is a leading product intelligence and analytics platform trusted by over 29,000 companies. The company is seeking a Product Manager to own Mixpanel's strategy and roadmap for its position in the data infrastructure landscape.
In this role, you will define how Mixpanel's data architecture evolves as customers increasingly work with data warehouses, lakes, and the broader modern data stack. This is a pathfinding role focused on turning ambiguous technical and business tradeoffs into clear strategic recommendations and actionable roadmaps.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and drive Mixpanel's strategy for evolving alongside customers' data warehouses, lakes, and modern data stack
- Synthesize complex architecture and business tradeoffs into clear recommendations grounded in customer evidence, competitive context, and business impact
- Partner closely with engineering leadership on build-vs-integrate-vs-partner decisions that shape data architecture for years to come
- Conduct direct customer and prospect conversations to understand evolving data infrastructure and workflows, translating insights into product bets
- Build business cases for infrastructure-level investments, making ROI of foundational work legible to leadership
- Define how Mixpanel's data model, governance, and metadata must evolve to support deeper analysis and growing product portfolio
- Align engineering, design, and go-to-market teams around shared strategic vision through clear written communication
- Define and track metrics to measure strategy effectiveness, course-correcting as new evidence emerges
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on product management experience, including ownership of technically complex, infrastructure- or platform-level problems
- Direct experience with the modern data stack (data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT, or data platform tooling) as a builder, user, or product owner
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with a track record of synthesizing competing technical and business inputs into clear strategic points of view
- Experience partnering closely with engineering on architecture-level tradeoffs, not just feature scoping
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to bring technical and non-technical audiences along on strategic narratives
- Experience using AI tools in product management workflows (e.g., competitive research, prototyping)
Nice to have:
- Experience at a data infrastructure, data platform, or analytics company
- Hands-on experience with data warehouses/lakehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) or open data formats
- Experience writing production-grade software
- Experience designing products using Figma, Sketch, or Abstract
