Salary: USD 150,000 - 170,000 / annual

Scotch is building a next-generation operating system for beverage alcohol retailers, combining POS, payments, back office, and e-commerce into a unified platform. The company is modernizing the $1.6T beverage alcohol market and has raised $28M from top-tier investors including VMG Partners, First Round, and Lerer Hippeau. The founding team includes alumni from Skupos (acquired 2023) and Drizly (acquired by Uber). Scotch recently closed a $20M Series A in 2026 with 500%+ YoY growth and $1B+ in processed payment volume. You will own the merchant operations roadmap for the back-office web application, the platform where retailers manage their business. This is a hands-on, autonomous role within a small product organization where you'll make decisions without committee oversight and be accountable for outcomes. Key responsibilities include: - Own the back-office roadmap, turning strategic direction into a sequence of releases and deciding feature prioritization - Manage core inventory and operational workflows: product creation/editing, receiving, ordering, transfers, pricing, and shelf labels - Conduct customer discovery with merchants and their staff to understand actual workflows and pain points - Execute on AI feature strategy within the back office, determining which problems AI should solve, how to build merchant trust, and success metrics - Serve as the product point of contact for support, onboarding, and go-to-market for back-office features - Design for organizational scale, supporting solo owners through multi-location tenants with layered roles and delegated access - Define where AI belongs in workflows (what it drafts, automates, or requires human oversight for) and establish quality evaluation criteria - Prioritize across merchant escalations, platform work, and long-horizon bets - Partner with engineering on scoping, sequencing, and release coordination - Define success metrics before building, instrument work, monitor adoption, and assess outcomes honestly - Spend time directly with merchants and back-office staff to uncover insights beyond support tickets Qualifications: - 5+ years of product management experience with a track record of owning product areas from discovery through launch and iteration - Strong experience managing complex, data-heavy web applications, including evolving established workflows that customers rely on daily - Experience bringing AI-powered features from concept to production in established SaaS products, with understanding of quality evaluation, user trust, and human oversight requirements - Experience designing administrative workflows and multi-tenant products, including roles, permissions, approvals, audit needs, and multi-location/multi-team support - Demonstrated autonomy and accountability, with experience making independent product decisions and owning outcomes - Strong customer discovery skills with a habit of observing users, testing assumptions, and incorporating findings into decisions; enthusiasm for onsite research with store owners, managers, buyers, and bookkeepers - Sound product judgment and self-awareness, able to explain tradeoffs, recognize when decisions aren't working, and adjust course - Strong prioritization skills managing multiple workstreams while balancing customer needs, platform investments, and longer-term opportunities - Clear written and verbal communication, including actionable product requirements and ability to explain decisions to engineering, customers, cross-functional partners, and executives Nice to haves: - Prior product experience in accounting, finance, or inventory management products where accuracy, reconciliation, and audit trails matter - Experience with purchasing, receiving, invoicing, or accounts-payable workflows - Retail, distribution, or point-of-sale background, particularly with independent or small-format merchants - Comfort working with data directly, including writing or reading SQL - Fluency with AI tools in daily workflow
