Metaview is an applied AI lab building AI coworkers for recruiting teams. Founded by former Uber and Palantir leaders, the company has raised $50M+ and is growing 5x year-over-year.
In this Product Engineer role, you will own zero-to-one product development for new recruiting capabilities. Unlike traditional innovation labs, new products at Metaview start with real customer problems and ship to production with the same engineer responsible from initial insight through adoption and iteration. You will work without a fixed roadmap, talking directly to users, discovering product insights, proving concepts through working software, and evolving early versions into trusted customer solutions.
You will tackle problems such as: building AI agents that pursue recruiting objectives over extended periods while knowing when to request human judgment and recovering safely from model or tool failures; converting interview and hiring-team conversations into actionable workflows with interfaces that let recruiters understand and trust the results; discovering simple product primitives that unlock broad recruiting workflows; and building the complete interface, APIs, data model, permissions, and production behavior for new customer workflows.
Within your first 3–6 months, you should independently own and ship a bounded customer outcome from problem definition through rollout and iteration. The scope reflects your level, but the operating model is consistent: make product and technical decisions, contribute meaningful code, and own production results.
Metaview's operating value is velocity—reducing time from customer evidence to reliable product change without sacrificing quality. The team ships small changes daily, including Fridays, because the engineer who ships owns production behavior and the next revision. AI coding agents are standard tools; engineers routinely run multiple agents in parallel for exploration, implementation, and review. However, you must also reason, code, and debug independently—one interview exercise is completed without AI assistance.
The stack includes React, TypeScript, Python, AWS, Postgres, and S3. Experience with these exact technologies is not required. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on product and implementation, not people management or model research.
Metaview works in-person in San Francisco. Decisions are made by people closest to the customer and the code. The company pays in the top 10% of the SF market through salary and meaningful equity, re-benchmarking twice yearly. Work visas are sponsored. In the US, the company covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and dependents. Time off is unlimited.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have personally shipped software for external users and owned a meaningful outcome from problem definition through production.
- You have real depth in at least one technical area and can cross product, frontend, and backend boundaries when required.
- You use AI coding agents heavily and can still design, implement, review, and debug independently.
- You want direct customer contact, hands-on implementation, and responsibility after launch.
- You are energized by turning ambiguous customer problems into the first useful version of a product.
- You want to own the unglamorous work after launch, including reliability, adoption, and revision.
