Salary: USD 320,000 - 405,000 / annual
Anthropic is building its own servers, racks, and accelerator systems with contract manufacturers and ODM partners, deploying them across a fleet of data centers. As a Product Engineer on the Manufacturing Operations team, you will be the technical owner of hardware products at the factory level.
Your responsibilities span the full product lifecycle: during development, you gather manufacturing, test, and yield concerns and ensure they are fixed in the design before each build, signing off that products are ready to advance. Once in mass production, you maintain product health by delivering engineering changes with minimal disruption, qualifying new components and second-source manufacturers, and root-causing yield and field failures.
Representative projects include: taking new accelerator racks from early evaluation to mass production at an ODM by auditing assembly and test processes, setting yield targets, and confirming test coverage; scaling manufacturing from one line to multiple sites without regressions; running cross-functional root cause analyses on field failures and driving corrective actions with ODMs/CMs; leading engineering changes across manufacturers including BOM updates, cut-in planning, and validation; and bringing manufacturing requirements and validation data into development phase reviews.
This is a hands-on role requiring up to 50% travel to partner factories in the US and abroad. You should be equally comfortable debugging test failures on the line and presenting corrective action plans to leadership. You will need a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Ideal candidates have carried hardware products from early builds through mass production at contract manufacturers, set up or improved assembly and test processes, use structured manufacturing methods (DFM, FMEA, SPC, 8D), can write product-specific test plans, and communicate effectively with both partner engineers and leadership.
