Metaview is an applied AI lab building AI coworkers for recruiting teams. Founded by alumni from Uber and Palantir, the company has raised over $50M and is growing 5x year-over-year.
This is a hands-on product engineering role where you will own customer outcomes end-to-end: from problem definition through implementation, launch, and iteration. Unlike traditional engineering roles that start with a ticket, this role starts with a customer problem. You will talk directly to users, decide what should exist, build across the stack, and stay responsible for results.
You will work on problems such as: building AI agents that can pursue recruiting objectives over days and know when to ask for human judgment; turning interview and hiring conversations into actions with interfaces that let recruiters understand and trust results; designing permissions and recovery paths for agents acting in customer systems; and building interfaces, APIs, data models, and production behavior for customer workflows.
In your first 3-6 months, you should independently own and ship a bounded customer outcome. The operating model emphasizes velocity—shipping small changes daily, including Fridays—because the engineer who ships owns production behavior and the next revision. Process stays light because customer context and ownership are direct.
The company uses AI coding agents as a standard tool. Engineers routinely run several in parallel for exploration, implementation, and review. You will be assessed on both how well you direct agents and how well you reason, code, and debug independently.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a people-management or research role. The opening spans mid-level and staff+ scope under the same hands-on operating model. At mid-level, you independently own bounded customer outcomes. At staff+, you still write code while setting direction for broader areas and making architectural tradeoffs.
The company works in-person in San Francisco. Decisions are made by people closest to the customer and the code. The tech stack includes React, TypeScript, Python, AWS, Postgres, and S3, though experience with these exact technologies is not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have personally shipped software for external users and owned a meaningful outcome from problem definition through production.
- You have real depth in at least one technical area and can cross product, frontend, and backend boundaries when needed.
- You use AI coding agents heavily and can still design, implement, review, and debug independently.
- You want direct customer contact, hands-on implementation, and responsibility after launch.
- You naturally start with the customer problem rather than the requested feature.
- You have strong product opinions and change them when evidence proves you wrong.
