Lightning AI is seeking a Product Engineer to help develop and scale its end-to-end platform for developing, training, and deploying AI systems. The company, founded in 2019 and behind PyTorch Lightning, recently merged with Voltage Park to combine developer-first software with cost-efficient, large-scale compute infrastructure.
In this role, you'll take ownership of key features and drive them end-to-end across the frontend (React), CLI, APIs, and core backend systems (Python or Go). You'll work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to ship high-quality, iterative improvements that support real-world machine learning workloads at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing readable, testable, and efficient code in React and either Python or Go
- Building deep expertise in the technology stack to deliver new features, improve system stability, and increase performance
- Partnering with engineering and product leaders to develop the Lightning product and set technical direction for large projects
- Evaluating, strengthening, and documenting technical architecture, tools, and processes
- Maintaining high software quality standards, implementing automation, driving continuous delivery, and reducing technical debt
- Mentoring and coaching engineers on system design, operating in high uncertainty, and problem-solving
You should have proficiency in React and either Go or Python (Go preferred), strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on fullstack experience in SaaS, proven ability to own features end-to-end, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and comfort operating in high uncertainty and rapidly changing environments.
The role is based in one of four hubs: New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, or London, with a minimum of 2 in-office days per week and occasional team and company offsites. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
