Pennylane is a high-growth European fintech specializing in financial management and accounting software for SMEs and accounting firms. The company has raised €400M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and has grown from 7 founders to 1,000+ employees across 25 countries in 5 years. With 1.3M+ microenterprises and 7,000+ accounting firms using the platform in France, Pennylane is expanding into Spain and seeking a Product Domain Specialist in Accounting.
You will serve as the bridge between accounting expertise and product development, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance in the accounting production tool. Your role combines three key dimensions: advising the product team on accounting functionality correctness, testing the product and reporting issues, and training internal teams and external accounting firms on the platform.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with product teams on design and validation of accounting and tax features through workshops and prototype reviews; translating accounting and fiscal requirements into clear product specifications; documenting product decisions in light of regulatory requirements; challenging proposed solutions from an accounting perspective; defining and validating accounting test scenarios; confirming expected accounting outcomes of features; and creating/maintaining technical accounting and tax documentation.
In the first 6 months, you will actively contribute to the Spanish product launch, ensure key accounting functionalities are compliant and efficient, document critical knowledge on FR↔ES accounting differences and Spanish product functionality, train initial accounting firms on Pennylane Spain, and help recruit and onboard key team members in Partner Success and Customer Success roles.
Required: minimum 3 years in an accounting firm/advisory/management company with annual company closures; mastery of complete bookkeeping workflow; experience with A3 accounting software; fluent English (conversational level acceptable). Preferred: high-level accounting vision across different firm types and regional variations; experience with modern tools (Holded, Quipu, e-commerce platforms); tech-savvy profile with basic understanding of integrations, automations, and APIs; knowledge of Spanish tax reforms (Veri*Factu); startup or digital innovation experience; remote work experience.
