Mirage is an AI-native video platform that uses natural language to intelligently orchestrate production and editing. The platform leverages AI models to execute creative decisions a professional editor would make, improving productivity for experienced teams while making video creation accessible to anyone.
You will be Mirage's first experienced design leader, responsible for building and leading the Product Design team from the ground up. You'll set the vision and quality bar for design across the company, manage and develop high-performing designers, and partner closely with executive, Product, and Engineering teams to shape product strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing the vision, strategy, and quality standards for Product Design as the product and company scale
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of product designers with clear direction and meaningful growth opportunities
- Building a world-class design team, defining its structure, capabilities, and culture
- Partnering with executive, Product, and Engineering leadership on product vision, strategy, and roadmap
- Guiding complex, high-impact product initiatives from exploration through launch
- Creating a culture of critique, craft, and user-centered decision-making while enabling rapid iteration
- Translating emerging AI capabilities into intuitive interaction models across text, image, audio, motion, and video
The design team has significant ownership over not only how products look and feel, but how they fundamentally work. You'll help define new interaction paradigms for AI-native video creation and build the systems and culture needed to deliver exceptional work.
Requirements:
- Proven track record building, managing, and developing high-performing product design teams
- Significant experience designing and shipping complex consumer products, ideally across mobile and desktop
- Strong product judgment and exceptional design taste, with ability to raise the bar from early thinking through polished execution
- Ability to move fluidly between high-level strategy, people leadership, and detailed product critique
- Comfortable creating clarity in ambiguous environments and making thoughtful decisions with imperfect information
- Clear communicator who can inspire teams, explain design rationale, and align people around shared direction
- Portfolio demonstrating strong systems thinking, high-quality craft, and meaningful impact on shipped products
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience designing AI-native products, creative tools, or products involving video, audio, image, or motion
- Background helping build or scale a design function at an early-stage or rapidly growing company
- Strong point of view on how people will interact and create with AI as technology evolves
- Grounded, collaborative approach and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win
- Experience as a startup founder or early design leader at one
