Doctolib is a mission-driven healthcare technology company founded in 2013 and headquartered in Paris. With nearly 3,000 employees across Europe, the company serves over 500,000 healthcare professionals and approximately 90 million patients through its platform. The company is transitioning from a transactional appointment-booking product to an AI-powered Health Companion that supports patients throughout their entire health journey—before, during, and after care. This includes access to care, health information, patient data, messaging, recommendations, care plans, and AI-powered assistance. As Product Design Director for Patient, you will own the design vision and quality bar for Doctolib's patient experience, reporting to the VP Design. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Medical, Data, and Business leadership teams. Your scope covers the full patient journey: access to care and booking; patient messaging and teleconsultation; the Patient Health Record; the app homepage and daily health experience; health content and prevention; recommendations, reminders, and care plans; new patient services and subscription experiences; and conversational and AI-powered experiences. You will lead a team of six Senior Product Designers and one Senior Content Designer, coaching and developing them while shaping the organization and operating model for the next phase of the Patient product. Key responsibilities include: defining and driving the design vision from a high-traffic booking experience to a trusted Health Companion; balancing improvements to core access-to-care with creating new reasons for patient engagement; raising the quality bar for product design, interaction design, and content; staying close to the product to make high-quality design decisions; shaping AI-native experiences that are clear, useful, and trustworthy; establishing design principles for transparency, explainability, uncertainty, user control, and safe escalation in healthcare; building a high-performing design organization through hiring and talent development; creating effective cross-functional collaboration; scaling coherent experiences across countries, languages, and healthcare contexts; and connecting design decisions to user behavior, product outcomes, and business impact. Success in the first year means establishing a clear design vision for the Patient stream, raising quality across core and newer experiences, defining a coherent interaction model for AI-powered patient experiences, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, developing a clear operating model for the Patient Design organization, and helping increase the value and relevance of the patient experience beyond appointment booking. REQUIREMENTS: - Significant experience leading Product Design: 10+ years in product design including 3+ years in people leadership - Experience in a consumer product organization, ideally one used by millions of people - Track record of designing and scaling products across multiple markets, with understanding of localization, cultural differences, and balance between global consistency and local relevance - Experience managing at least five Product Designers, ideally a larger organization including senior individual contributors and managers - Strong product design craft and creative judgment; ability to recognize excellent work, make difficult quality trade-offs, and stay close to details to raise product standards - Experience connecting design choices to measurable outcomes such as adoption, conversion, engagement, retention, satisfaction, or user behavior - Strong and practical understanding of AI-native product experiences; deep thinking about how AI changes interaction design, user expectations, trust, transparency, and control - Experience designing with uncertainty, recommendations, personalization, or conversational interfaces highly relevant - Ability to operate across complex products and stakeholders while maintaining clarity and momentum - Concise and compelling communication style; ability to articulate clear point of view, align senior stakeholders, and inspire teams - Experience in healthcare or another regulated, trust-sensitive environment valuable but not required; what matters is respect for domain expertise and ability to design responsibly in high-stakes contexts - Fluency in English; French or German a strong plus - Working style aligned with Doctolib Playbook: User First, Medical Expertise, Forefront of Innovation, Bold, Drive, Passion, Humility
