Octopus Energy is a renewable energy company transforming how the world consumes energy through technology and innovation. We're seeking a Product Designer (UX/UI) to join our Tech team in Valencia.
In this role, you'll design digital products and internal tools used by our teams and customers. You'll work closely with product managers and developers, collaborating with the design team to ensure every interface reflects the Octopus brand. You'll act as a bridge between tech and design, advocating for users and simplifying complex energy-sector workflows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design end-to-end solutions from problem discovery through final UI
- Apply and evolve brand guidelines in digital environments; build and maintain design systems for internal tech
- Prototype rapidly and conduct clear handoffs with engineering; review implementations against design standards
- Simplify inherently complex domains (billing, tariffs, contracts) through thoughtful UX
- Conduct user research through interviews, usability testing, and collaboration with customer support, marketing, and operations teams
You'll work in a hybrid model (40 hours/week) in Valencia with a dynamic, close-knit team that values flexibility, professional development, and sustainability.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years designing digital products (web, mobile apps, or internal tools); portfolio demonstrating process and decision-making, not just polished screens
- Expert-level Figma proficiency; experience building or maintaining design systems
- Hands-on experience conducting user interviews and usability testing; openness to user feedback
- Comfort using AI tools in your workflow
- Technical sensitivity: understanding of HTML/CSS, components, states, and technical constraints; experience with design systems; ability to communicate effectively with developers
- Fluent in Spanish and English (bilingualism essential for global team)
- Ego-free mindset: prioritizing what works over idea ownership; willingness to iterate or discard designs that don't serve users
Plus factors: daily AI integration in workflow; SaaS product design experience; familiarity with Spanish energy market.
