Cardless is building infrastructure for companies to design, build, and launch branded financial products. The company powers credit card programs for clients like Coinbase and Bilt, handling lending, compliance, and operations behind the scenes. Cardless raised $60M in Series C funding (September 2025, led by Spark Capital) and is scaling toward profitability by end of 2026.
You will own compliance review for every new card program, feature, fee, and disclosure before launch. Product and business teams will come to you to determine whether ideas comply with Reg Z and other consumer financial rules, and if not, what changes are needed. You'll review disclosures, application flows, and servicing flows against regulations and issuing bank requirements. For novel regulatory questions without clear answers, you'll write recommendations the team can act on. You'll also manage approval of product and disclosure changes with bank partners, establish the compliance review process (intake, checklists, sign-off, audit trails), and keep product teams informed when regulations change.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with no direct reports, reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer. You'll have real influence over what gets built across multiple issuing bank partnerships.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–6 years of consumer compliance, regulatory advisory, or legal experience at a bank, card issuer, or fintech
- Hands-on experience reviewing credit card products (fees, APRs, terms, disclosures, account flows) and advising the business
- Strong working knowledge of Reg Z and the CARD Act; working knowledge of Reg E, Reg B, FCRA, and UDAAP as they apply to cards
- Clear writing with ability to provide actionable recommendations, not just risk lists
- Comfort owning work without an established playbook
BONUS:
- Program manager or BaaS company experience, or direct work with issuing banks
- Debit or prepaid card experience
- Marketing or advertising compliance review for credit cards
- CRCM or other consumer compliance certification
- Regular use of AI tools in daily work
NOT A FIT:
- Need for hybrid or remote work (5 days/week in San Francisco office required; exception for Salt Lake City area candidates who can meet partners in person)
- Preference for following established playbooks
- Compliance background primarily in BSA/AML or mortgage
- Product management background or focus on data privacy, security, or tech GRC
