Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. The Procurement Group Manager will lead procurement activities for Astranis-designed hardware manufactured through contract manufacturers and external production partners. This role oversees supplier execution for high-volume, production-critical components including machined parts, electronics, and assemblies, partnering closely with Production, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality materials on schedule.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing sourcing strategies using negotiation and purchasing techniques to optimize quality, cost, delivery, and service. The manager will oversee the complete supplier lifecycle from purchase intent through onboarding, performance management, and exit. This includes managing supplier relations, ensuring supply agreement compliance, and maintaining ethical standards. The role requires tracking supplier performance using dashboards for quality, delivery, service, and cost metrics.
The manager will deliver aggressive cost reduction objectives by partnering with production, engineering, quality, and program management teams. Responsibilities include continuously analyzing market and delivery conditions to ensure material availability, working with cross-functional teams to develop product specifications and source new components, and identifying new or increased sources of supply that support plant expansions, new products, and sustainability objectives.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of purchasing/supply chain experience with at least 2 years at the management level. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or Chemistry (or equivalent experience), expertise in world-class procurement operations, strong knowledge of purchasing and accounting practices, contract negotiation, and relevant laws and regulations. The candidate should demonstrate excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a track record of project leadership and cross-functional partnership. A Master's degree is preferred.
