Volta is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform building compute utilities at scale. The company has secured $10B in strategic partnerships and $5B in dedicated AI infrastructure funding, with rapid growth from 100+ employees across London, Palo Alto, and New York.
You will serve as Regional Procurement Director for EMEA, reporting directly to the VP of Vendor Procurement. This is a foundational leadership role where you will establish Volta's global procurement standards, policies, and end-to-end processes across the region—not adapt them to regional preferences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the EMEA Category Management team, directing strategy across major spend categories: long-lead equipment (transformers, switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling infrastructure), MEP, whitespace, modular and prefabrication packages, and associated consulting services.
- Develop and manage Preferred Supply partner relationships and supplier management across the region.
- Implement global sourcing standards and procurement policies, escalating any exceptions to the VP.
- Own procurement planning for every active EMEA project, aligned to work package structures and delivery sequences.
- Track and secure long-lead equipment against project schedules, flagging schedule-critical risks early.
- Lead negotiation of regional supply and framework agreements with Procurement Legal Counsel.
- Hold dotted-line accountability for project-embedded procurement leads, ensuring standards, output quality, and career development.
- Partner with Regional Delivery Manager, Project Delivery Managers, and controls teams to align procurement sequencing with project stage gates.
- Provide regional vendor spend, risk, and commitment visibility to senior leadership and global portfolio reporting.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of procurement experience in data center, energy, or large-scale infrastructure construction.
- Direct experience with EMEA supply chains and vendor markets.
- Proven track record leading a category management team and enforcing sourcing discipline.
- Experience negotiating master and framework agreements and managing OEM relationships for long-lead, capital-intensive equipment.
- Experience operating in matrix delivery organizations, balancing functional standards against project delivery pressure.
- Comfort working alongside legal counsel on complex commercial and contractual terms.
- Strong reporting and communication skills with senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative, positive approach to building new teams.
