As Process Qualification Engineer for Additive Manufacturing, you will own quality and qualification for additive manufacturing processes—a critical bottleneck for scaling additive technology in aerospace and defense. This is a highly technical, independent role where you'll be the backbone of process validation and hardware qualification.
Key responsibilities include: owning and executing first article inspection (FAI) plans for additive hardware; defining control plans and ensuring specification compliance across powder, build, and post-processing; leading root cause analysis and corrective actions; serving as primary NDE (non-destructive evaluation) owner and developing new inspection methods; partnering with quality teams to define inspection plans and acceptance criteria; overseeing quality documentation and process control; and managing relationships with external vendors on powder supply, post-processing, coatings, and inspection services.
You'll need a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years in quality, qualification, or NDE roles in manufacturing with additive experience strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with FAI plans, NDE methods (CT, X-ray, penetrant, ultrasonic), and process control documentation is essential. Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-specification industries; familiarity with NADCAP, AS9100, AMS standards, and ASTM/AMS additive specs; and background managing supplier quality are strong differentiators. The role requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to ITAR regulations.
