Checkr is a data platform powering safe and fair decisions, trusted by over 140,000 companies including Uber, Airbnb, DoorDash, and Coinbase. The company is recognized on the Forbes Cloud 100 2025 list and is a Y Combinator 2024 Breakthrough Company.
As a Process Improvement Specialist, you will assess how Checkr's operations and support processes work today, identify where they break down or fail to scale, and design improved replacements using established process mapping methodologies. You'll translate customer experiences into concrete, standardized improvements to support flows, working with your manager and senior team members on complex decisions.
You are a systems thinker who can evaluate processes end-to-end, pinpoint failure points, and design fundamentally better solutions—not just cleaner versions of existing processes. You excel at bringing structure to ambiguity, documenting findings clearly (process maps, SOPs, runbooks), and leveraging current tools including AI to accelerate discovery and documentation while maintaining rigor.
Key responsibilities include: assessing existing processes using established methodologies to identify gaps and inefficiencies; mapping current-state and future-state processes using standard formats (swimlane diagrams, RACI matrices); translating tribal knowledge into documented, repeatable processes through facilitation; identifying automation and AI-assisted workflow opportunities; tracking initiatives from assessment through adoption; measuring results against pre-change baselines; and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure adoption. You'll work with Quality & Training, Operations Insights, and Program Management teams, and support the intake process for new improvement requests. The role requires understanding of FCRA-regulated workflows and periodic travel (<10%) to Checkr's San Francisco, Denver, and Santiago offices.
Checkr expects in-office work 3+ days per week from its Nashville hub location, with in-office perks including lunch five times weekly, commuter stipend, and wellness amenities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in process improvement, business process design, or operations analysis, ideally in support or operations environments
- Hands-on experience with process mapping methodologies (process flow diagrams, swimlane diagrams, RACI matrices)
- Demonstrated ability to assess current-state processes using structured methodologies and identify breakdown points
- Experience translating unstructured or tribal knowledge into clear, standardized documentation (SOPs, runbooks, intake forms)
- Comfort working within support and knowledge systems (Zendesk, Salesforce, Confluence, or similar)
- Familiarity using AI tools to accelerate process documentation, gap analysis, or workflow audits, with judgment about where human review remains critical
- Strong facilitation skills and experience running working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders
- Excellent written communication; ability to produce process documentation clear to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience quantifying process costs (time, volume, rework) before and after changes using existing dashboards and reports; strong spreadsheet skills including pivot tables and lookups (SQL not required)
- Experience defining and tracking success metrics for process changes, with ability to recognize when a metric improved but the underlying problem persists
- Preferred: experience improving support operations workflows in high-volume, customer-facing environments
- Preferred: Lean Six Sigma, BPM certification, or equivalent formal process improvement training
- A-player mindset with strong bias for action: raises the bar, moves with urgency, stays resilient through ambiguity, takes ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes
