Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures advanced lithium-ion battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing and optimizing chemical processes and unit operations to enhance efficiency, safety, product quality, and material yield. Key responsibilities include providing process engineering expertise for rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.), monitoring performance, and collaborating with Maintenance and Reliability teams to implement upgrades and preventative maintenance strategies.
The role requires continuous process monitoring and data analysis using tools like Seeq to identify trends, diagnose issues, and implement data-driven corrective and preventative actions. The engineer will lead investigation and resolution of complex operational problems, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions to ensure uninterrupted production. Safety is paramount—the role includes conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations.
Project management is a core component, with responsibility for leading engineering projects focused on process improvement or new technology implementation. This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The engineer will also collaborate with Engineering and Automation teams on designing and implementing process control systems (DCS, PLC) and equipment to advance automation and data acquisition.
Success is measured by material yield targets, process uptime and OEE improvements, first-pass quality reduction in rework/scrap, energy and utility consumption savings, on-time project delivery, and maintaining zero recordable safety incidents.
