Lumilens is building photonics infrastructure for AI supercomputing, developing chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines. The company is Series B funded and led by veterans from transformative technology companies.
As an Active Alignment Process Engineer, you will own the optical active alignment processes critical to transceiver manufacturing for next-generation AI infrastructure. Your responsibilities include leading and optimizing alignment processes for production, operating and maintaining active alignment equipment (FAU, lens, isolator, PIC chip systems), and developing alignment algorithms that drive manufacturing yield and quality.
You will perform equipment buyoff and qualification activities, oversee epoxy dispensing and curing processes, and design fixtures to improve alignment efficiency. Working cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams, you'll troubleshoot equipment control issues, resolve alignment challenges, and contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role requires minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with optical active alignment for transceivers or related photonic devices. You should be deeply familiar with active alignment equipment, stages, controllers, power meters, MPO connectors, laser sources, and mechanical components. Experience with equipment control systems, fixture design, and algorithm development or optimization is essential. Knowledge of epoxy dispensing and curing methods is required. A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physics, optics, or a related field is preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are critical for success.
