1Password is seeking a Privacy Engineer to join the Privacy Engineering team within the Security organization. This role combines software engineering with AI-assisted approaches to build technical controls, automation, and tooling that protect personal data across 1Password's products and systems.
You will work on implementing privacy by design across a cloud-based SaaS environment, collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, Data, and Legal/Privacy teams. Key responsibilities include building and deploying agent-based workflows for privacy engineering processes such as privacy review intake, data subject rights requests, and data inventory updates. You'll develop AI-assisted tooling to help engineering teams identify privacy risks earlier and apply safeguards with less manual effort.
The role involves implementing privacy controls related to authorization, data scoping, retention and deletion, consent signals, and responsible data access. You'll integrate privacy tooling with engineering workflows and systems including CI/CD pipelines, code review platforms, data catalogs, and ticketing systems. Additionally, you'll improve the handling of logs and telemetry through classification, minimization, and redaction practices that support visibility without unnecessary data collection.
Required qualifications include production software experience in SaaS or cloud environments, proficiency in backend languages (Python, TypeScript, Go), and experience building with LLM systems or AI frameworks including agents and multi-step orchestration workflows. You should have practical experience with privacy concepts such as data minimization, access controls, retention/deletion, and consent. Experience with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA) and data subject rights workflows is preferred.
