Echodyne is seeking a Principal Systems Architect for Radar Development to lead the technical architecture of next-generation solid-state radar systems. The company develops compact, beam-steering radar sensors using metamaterial technology for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications. In this role, you will translate customer and product requirements into measurable system specifications and performance budgets. You'll define and maintain radar system architecture across hardware, firmware, algorithms, and product interfaces, operating at the intersection of radar principles, antenna theory, RF electronics, embedded computing, and power distribution. Key responsibilities include: - Converting product/customer use cases into system requirements and performance budgets - Defining radar system architecture spanning hardware, firmware, algorithms, and interfaces - Leading system decomposition and subsystem requirement definition - Managing tradeoffs among competing requirements using system budgets - Driving system-level performance closure through modeling, simulation, and field data analysis - Enabling integration readiness through cross-functional collaboration with hardware and software leads - Establishing verification philosophy, strategy, and traceability in partnership with integration/test teams - Serving as principal technical voice in roadmap and design reviews with product, manufacturing, and customer support Required qualifications: BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or equivalent. 10+ years developing complex embedded/electronic systems from concept through production readiness. Experience leading systems engineering for products spanning RF/mixed-signal electronics, embedded firmware/OS, and application software. Strong analytical skills for system modeling, trade studies, and data-driven debugging. Proficiency with Python/MATLAB and systems debugging at hardware/software boundaries. Desired experience includes familiarity with radar systems, RF design, or sensing technologies; commercial radar product delivery; radar domain knowledge for architecture decisions (FMCW and/or pulse Doppler preferred); and exposure to radar algorithms including clutter mitigation, interference suppression, calibration, and tracking/state estimation (Kalman filtering). Note: Echodyne's technology is export-controlled by the U.S. Government. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, green card holders, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.
